Your Data Rights

Last updated: 29 July 2026

This page explains how to exercise your rights over the personal data WrongLK holds about you. For what we collect and why, see the Privacy Policy.

Withdrawing cookie consent — instant, no request needed

You do not need to contact anyone to change your cookie choices. Use the Cookie preferences button at the bottom-left of any page, or open cookie preferences here. Withdrawing is as easy as consenting, and takes effect immediately.

Making a data request

Email [email protected] with the subject line “Data request”, and tell us:

  1. Which right you are exercising (see the list below).
  2. The email address you used on this site — in a contact form or a comment. This is how we locate your data.
  3. Any detail that helps us find the right records, such as the approximate date, or the page you commented on.

What you can ask for

  • Access — a copy of the personal data we hold about you, delivered as a downloadable file.
  • Rectification — correction of anything inaccurate.
  • Erasure — deletion of your data, including your comments and any contact-form messages.
  • Portability — your data in a structured, machine-readable format you can take elsewhere.
  • Restriction — that we keep your data but stop using it.
  • Objection — to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests.

What happens next

  1. We verify it is you. WordPress sends a confirmation link to the email address on the account or comment. Clicking it confirms the request came from you. We do this so nobody can obtain or delete your data by pretending to be you — we will not act on an unconfirmed request.
  2. We locate your data across comments, contact-form messages and any account.
  3. We act and confirm. For access and portability you receive a download link to a file containing your data. For erasure we delete the data and confirm in writing.

We respond within one month. If a request is unusually complex we may extend this by up to two further months, and will tell you why within the first month. There is no fee for a first request.

Limits on erasure

We will erase your data on request except where we are legally required to keep it, or where we need it to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. Two practical points:

  • Deleting your comments does not remove them from third-party caches or archives outside our control.
  • Backups are retained on a rolling schedule and are overwritten in the ordinary course. Data deleted from the live site may persist in a backup until that backup rotates out.

Data held by Google

If you consented to Statistics or Marketing, Google also holds data about your visit under its own controllership. We can act on the data we hold, but for Google’s own records use their tools directly:

Withdrawing consent here stops any further data reaching Google from this site.

If you are unhappy with our response

Please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint); in the EEA, the authority where you live.
